Modelling Ship in 3ds Max (technique used by me for transport modelling in this project - its more simple, then I see anywere in books&tutorials)
In first, we need a drawings, with shell frames
Then we create by Spline->Lines , vertex number must be some for lines with equivalent height
Move lines, correct vertices, then attach all lines together.
Convert lines to Editable Spline, and Extrude line to near next line
Move to vertex editing mode, and Weld vertices to close ship geometry.
Then mirror, move left part from right part and add polygons for kiel
In polygon editing mode add polygons for deck
And add some elements, created from primitives
The final model
